Best From The West: Ascot – 29th January 2022

After a week of massive race meetings from start to finish, it will be breeze for the Perth faithful to see only nine this time.

Ascot Picture: Racing and Sports

The main race is the Listed Scenic Blast for the sprinters which is almost a replay of the Miss Andretti a fortnight before.

Eight of them go around again from a race which saw the first eight home under three lengths top to tail.

It is hard to knock how Miss Conteki is going as it was a great win from back but she has to do it at 1200m and Iseered Iseered will only be better for that first run off the Winterbottom.

He took on the best Perth has to offer in the sprinting ranks and has won at the trip before.

Maybe he'd be better suited if it were wet but last time out wasn't that way and he was excellent. We'll play him each way off the nice draw.

Then to the last which has already been cut around a bit by scratchings. If we see The Fugazi at good enough odds we're happy to play him in the get out stakes.

Last prep he raced some nice horses and was around the mark, especially at the start of it.

Similarly here he is first up at 1200m and he gets back anyway so the barrier is not that critical.

As long as there is ample speed, he will play a part in the finish and we have Clint Johnston-Porter on him as well.
