A step up to a favoured trip sees Sayl well placed in the opening race on Saturday’s Eagle Farm program.
Sayl put two wins together including a dominant performance over this distance two back and since then settled back but closed well when back 400m in trip at Gold Coast.
He will enjoy getting out to 2200m again and jockey Andrew Mallyon just needs to get him into clear air in the straight to prove hard to hold out.
A last-start placing and a handy drop in the weights gives Trevelyan his chance to break through later in the day.
He fought hard and didn't miss by much when carrying 4.5kgs more over this course and distance last start.
He will be reaching peak fitness and has encouraging statistics at the track and trip.
