Brisbane Best: Doomben – 23rd April 2022

3 minute read

A narrow last-start defeat will have Shamaton ready to hit his peak when he lines up at Doomben on Saturday.

Tony Gollan's gelding drew wide and ran on and hit the front at this track last start before he was grabbed on the line to go under by a head.

Shamaton has a win and a placing from two third-up attempts so will be race fit now and ready to show his best.

He has consistent records at both the course and the distance and Jim Byrne can secure him a good run from a low draw.

Hail Manhattan takes on some handy rivals later in the program but looks close to a win and offers each way value.

The mare has been runner up at her last two, one of those at Listed level, and while she has been freshened she has been kept up to the mark with a trial.

She races well at this distance with two wins and three placings from six attempts and is drawn to play a role.
