A drop in grade from stakes class sees Xtravagant Star well placed when she ventures north to Doomben on Saturday.
Ciaron Maher's mare tackled the G3 Birthday Card Stakes in Sydney last start, finishing less than 4L behind subsequent TJ Smith Stakes winner Chain Of Lightning.
Prior to that Xtravagant Star had gone close in a resuming second at Rosehill so she should be hitting her peak.
She loves this distance with three wins and a placing from four attempts and with a good draw and Ryan Maloney in the saddle has plenty in her favour.
A closing fresh performance gives Starzam an each way hope in the final event of the day.
Kelly Schweida's gelding was an eye-catcher first up when he settled last but ran on to be beaten less than 2L at Eagle Farm.
He'll be fitter for that, should enjoy the longer trip and could take closer order from a lower draw so may prove hard to hold out.
