Real Love wins 2014 Queen’s Cup Group 3 $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 2200m.
Highly consistent mare Real Love has now raced 11 times for three wins and six placings. She settled well in sixth place, between runners, following a steady early pace. William Pike angled her wide and into clear running rounding the home turn. She took the lead at the 300m and then drew clear to score comfortably by just over two lengths, running the 2200m out well.
Son Of Something travelled well in eighth place, one off the rails. He improved wide with cover from the 700m, went very wide at the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then fought on soundly for second, having no chance with the winner.
Ask Me Nicely was back in tenth place (between runners) in the 15-horse field at the 800m. He got into clear running at the 300m and kept battling on quite well, making ground to take third.
