Whittington wins 2015 Ascend Sales Lightning Hcp Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1050m.
Whittington was eased from his outside barrier (10) and settled in last place. He improved along the rails from the 600m, ducked back to the rails at the 200m and then finished very well, racing clear over the final stages for a decisive win.
Rocky King showed his usual pace and went to the front. He got a break at the 200m and then battled back well when overhauled for a sound second.
The Storeman had a nice trip from his inside barrier (1) racing in fourth place on the rails. He went through to second at the 200m and briefly looked a threat before fighting on for third.
