Ana Royale wins 2017 Ubet Sa Fillies Classic Group 3 $175,000 at Morphettville (SA), 2500m.
Following a big run for third in the Australasian Oaks (Gr 1, 2010m) Ana Royale was rewarded for her consistency with a dominant victory here. Installed favourite and starting from barrier nine, jockey Mark Zahra allowed the filly to drift to fifth last with a circuit remaining. Past the 1400m, they were third last in a strung out field, which packed up at the 600m and Zahra rushed forward quickly to be handier but widest turning for home. She was travelling better than anything once straightened, cruised up to share the lead at the 200m then strolled clear to win as she liked.
Parthesia began her run at the 600m, was widest but one into the straight and stayed on solidly but had no chance against the winner.
Smart As You Think ran up wide at the 500m, challenged at the 250m and battled away to hold third from Young Hostess, who took a long time to wind up in the straight, nabbing fourth right on the line.
