Pardoe wins 2017 Bracken Ridge Tav. The Phoenix Listed $100,000 at Doomben (QLD), 1350m.
Combined with a masterly judge of pace, courtesy of Hugh Bowman, Pardoe gave his rivals a galloping lesson with an impressive all-the-way win here, back-to-back stakes and fourth successive win from seven starts. He was first away from barrier six and reaching the course proper set a solid pace. Bowman eased him slightly at the 800m then pushed the accelerator again inside the 600m. Near the last corner the colt was cruising, Bowman gave him a swish at the 300m and that was enough - the chasers had too much to do and they eased home, Bowman merely shaking the reins, with two lengths to spare at the line.
Italia Bella was midfield at the 600m, turned in fourth with a clear run and ran on fairly well yet with no chance of catching the winner.
Magnufighter also ran on (late) from midfield for a fair third from Silky Brown who flashed into fourth after being last into the straight.
