Vengeur Masque went straight to the front to lead by a length with a circuit to run and maintaining a solid tempo continued to lead down the back and deep into the home bend. Rider Patrick Moloney never moved until they straightened and even then merely shook the reins.

Challenged at the 400m he kicked again to lead narrowly only to lose the lead at the 200m then fought back again to edge clear by three quarters of a length near the line for the win and very good staying effort.

Grey Lion tracked the winner to the straight, got the split and challenged, led or co-led to the 200m but was outstayed.

Wheal Leisure was handy turning in, had to wait for a run then ran on quite well without looking like catching the first two. The first three home were well clear of the rest.
