Steel Frost wins 2017 City Of Marion Stakes Listed $100,000 at Morphettville (SA), 1200m.
The in-form Steel Frost has now won five of his six starts this preparation and he took his record to eight wins from 14 starts in taking out his first stakes victory here. He settled well in sixth place, behind a good pace before tracking up (with cover) nearing the home turn. He moved up quickly on straightening, hit the front at the 100m and drew clear to win well.
Casino Wizard settled back in tenth place, improved between runners rounding the home turn, got a split to challenge nearing the 100m and then battled on well for second.
Sudden Wealth, a stablemate of the winner, settled near the tail of the field, made ground between runners at the home turn and then ran on well for third.
