Sovereign Nation wins 2018 March Stakes Listed $120,000 at Flemington (VIC), 1400m.
With five of his most recent starts being at Group One level, Sovereign Nation found this a little easier and returned to form for win five and earnings of $590,450. Under Damien Oliver he wound up midfield (one out) at the halfway mark, pulling wider into the home straight.
In the clear at the 400m Oliver gave him a shake but inside the 300m asked for more, driving up to the leaders but not getting his nose in front until inside the 50m, barely holding on from that point to last by a nose.
Little separated the first four home with Theanswermyfriend racing in second to the straight, co leading soon after and fighting hard to the line to lose narrowly.
Seaburge was locked away next to the fence until the 200m and when clear flew along the inner to grab third from Wyndspelle who finished very strongly down the outer for a close fourth.
