Danzdanzdance wins Captain Cook Group 01 NZ$200,000 at Trentham (NZ), 1600m.
Fresh from a flying last start third in the Livamol Classic (Gr.1, 2040m), two months ago, Danzdanzdance joined in at the 250m and powered away by an impressive four lengths for win three at start ten and making her maiden stakes win a Group 1 win.
She began well to be handy and wide early but near the 1200m drifted slightly to settle fourth to last (now one out) yet well within touch. Starting the big bend at the 1000m rider Opie Bosson pushed her quickly forward to camp three wide but looming, right in behind the pace.
Entering the straight she was five wide, cruising, and Bosson urged her along, caught the leaders at the 250m then broke away, giving the chasers no chance and with four lengths up her sleeve at the finish.
Authentic Paddy sat three wide in third from the 600m, challenged at the 400m then kept on gamely the length of the straight, nabbing second just short of the line. Our Abbadean had no luck at all, well back and locked away on the fence turning in, pulled out widest when clear yet still third last at the 250m then flew home very strongly to claim third.
Ocean Emperor led them in, tried to steal it, was caught at the 250m and held second until very late only to be swamped for fourth.
