Cappo D’Oro wins Auto Masters-G.A. Towton Cup Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA), 2200m.
Following seconds at his first three runs this preparation, Cappo D’Oro scored a good win here. He was smartly away and soon crossed to take the lead. He then travelled nicely for Dean Yendall, setting a really moderate pace before lifting the tempo and grabbing a break on straightening.
He then fought back nicely to score, running the 2200m out well. The favourite Mississippi Delta relaxed well under William Pike in fourth place (on the rails), was held up at the home turn before getting a split at the 200m.
She took a moment to wind up before running on well for second in the sprint home, the steady early pace proving a disadvantage. Elegant Blast raced near the tail of the field, got along the inner at the home turn and battled on really well along the rails, in the sprint home, to take third.
