LI'L Kontra wins M&J Chickens National Stakes Group 3 $150,000 at Morphettville, 1200m,
Ultra consistent Li'l Kontra made a late burst between runners and added win number three (second stakes) to six placings in nine starts this season. She was last away from the barriers but jockey Dwayne Dunn kept her to the rail and settled equal last, five lengths off the pace.
Entering the straight Dunn waited for a run, kept to the fence, found a split at the 150m, caught the leader at the 50m then with a late burst went on and scored by a long neck.
Absolute Flirt looked comfortable in the lead to the straight, tried to slip them at the 250m but was run down late.
Xilong tracked the leader into the straight, pulled out to challenge but lost momentum yet found more near the line to finish third from Balaabel, who went up to challenge the leader turning in and looked a danger but was outgunned for a close up fourth.
