The Danny O'Brien-trained Vow And Declare followed his good second in the Queensland Derby (Gr 1, 2400m) here on June 8 with a very solid staying performance in beating older rivals over 3000m here.

He was ridden patiently by Glen Boss back in a distant sixth place, many lengths behind the tearaway leaders (Etah James and Travistee). He improved nearing the 600m, went to the front at the 200m and then drew away to win impressively.

Big Duke raced back in ninth place, commenced his move coming to the home turn, he went to fourth at the 200m and then kept running on well under his top weight (60kg) for second.

Our Libretto raced back in fifth place, improved along the rails at the home turn and then kept battling on well to take third with Sin To Win holding on for (5.7 lengths) fourth.
