Brave Song wins S George & Sons W J Healy Stks, Group 3 $175,000 at Eagle Farm, 1200m.
After seconds at his first three starts this preparation, all at stakes level, Brave Song broke through with a good win here, his sixth win in 18 starts.
He was ridden quietly in the early stages as usual and settled back in third last place in the 14-horse field before improving between runners rounding the home turn. Blake Shinn eased him into clear running at the 200m and he then sprinted smartly, hit the front at the 50m and went on to win well.
Amanaat raced in fifth place, moved up well nearing the home turn, challenged at the 200m and then fought well for a good second, beaten a long neck. Intuition raced in last place to the home turn, commenced a move (wide) on turning for home and kept running on well for a good third.
Victorem settled back in ninth place, got between runners on turning for home, but was in restricted room at the 200m before making late ground for (1.3 lengths) fourth, looking somewhat unlucky.
Monsieur Gustave raced outside the leader (Whypeeo), got to the front nearing the 200m and then held on well for (2.1 lengths) fifth.
