Rox The Castle wins Weekend Hussler Hcp Listed $175,000 at Caulfield, 1400m.
The highly consistent Rox The Castle scored a good all-the-way win and took his record to eight wins (three placings) from 14 starts, his second Listed victory in recent weeks.
After a quick beginning, Luke Nolen was able to set a moderate tempo with the gelding before picking up the pace nearing the home turn.
He then fought gamely in the sprint home to win well. Manolo Blahniq raced in fifth place, one off the rails, improved rounding the home turn and then ran on well for second.
Renewal settled in fourth place, one out and one back, before moving up nicely rounding the home turn and then kept fighting on for third.
Pacodali raced in last place in the eight-horse field, saved ground on the rails at the home turn, eased into clear running at the 200m and ran on well for a close-up fourth, the lack of a solid early tempo proving a disadvantage.
