Broadwayandfourth wins Pfd Food Serv. Crockett Stakes Listed, $175,000 at Moonee Valley, 1200m.
The Mitchell Freedman-trained Broadwayandfourth looks a progressive filly with a good future.
Having only her third race start, after winning a three-year-old fillies' maiden (1200m) at Ballarat on October 2, she settled back in eighth place from her inside barrier (1). She improved between runners at the home turn, switched back to the inner and then finished too well for a very good win.
Niccovi raced at the tail of the nine-horse field, went widest of all rounding the home turn and then kept running on solidly for second.
The favourite Villami worked a bit from barrier 8 before racing outside the leader (Lankan Star). She forged to the front at the home turn but her early effort then told and she then battled on quite well for third.
