Samizdat wins Hosemasters-Asian Beau Stakes Group 3, $150,000 at Ascot, 1400m.
The least experienced runner in the field, having only his eighth start, Samizdat scored his maiden stakes success to add to his previous four wins and in good style.
He was slow away to settle second last where he remained until the 600m and rounding into the home straight. He had to go wide on straightening, took a few strides to balance then went after the leaders and ranged alongside at the 100m.
Travelling smoothly, he surged clear to win well by a length and a half. Regal Power sat fifth, one out from the 1200m, improved quickly into the straight and co-led briefly at the 150m but couldn't match the winner, holding on quite well for second.
Perfect Jewel was sixth (rails) at the 600m, but had nowhere to go upon straightening and got out at the 150m to fly home for third. Alpha Sky took over into the straight, co-led at the 150m and held on to the line for fourth.
