Tambo’s Mate wins Sky Racing Tattersall’s Recogn, Listed, $125,000 at Doomben, 1350m.
The consistent Tambo’s Mate took his record to seven wins from 12 starts in recording his first win a stakes level here. He moved up (deep) in the early stages, settled outside the leader (Deep Image), got the upper hand at the 100m and then fought well for a very good win.
Vega One settled in fourth place, challenged halfway down the straight and kept battling on well for (long neck) second.
The favourite Deep Image missed the start, was near last early on before recovering along the inner to take the lead. He then set the pace and fought well after his early efforts for a close-up third.
Silvera made ground from ninth at the home turn for fourth, beaten a length, while Signore Fox also made ground, coming from last in the 11-horse field to finish (1.3 lengths) fifth.
