Singapore Racing - Weekend Review : 22nd November 2019

3 minute read

There was just the sole meeting in Singapore over the weekend, with a few key performances on Friday night.

The Leticia Dragon trained Strong N Powerful was a key stand-out when taking a good step forward in the fifth event.

Sent out the $4.40 second elect, the market honed in on the Michael Clements trained On Line ($2.00).

Both impressive last start winners with Strong N Powerful proving just that, when edging out On Line late in the piece.

Enjoying a good run in transit, Strong N Powerful settled fourth on the inside before forcing his way into the clear on straightening.

On Line loomed large when pulled the widest runner on straightening, but Strong N Powerful dug in deep to score by three-quarters of a length.

Rated 72+ by Timeform in the lead up, Strong N Powerful came out rated 85 with the clock indicating there is likely more to come.

At just his sixth start, he has made rapid improvement in recent outings and is clearly a 3YO trending the right way.

To put his rating into perspective, Inferno is the highest rated 3YO in training, rated 98 following his victory in the Group 3 SAAS Fee Stakes.

Second placegetter Big Hearted is rated 89 and returned a rating of 80 when winning the final event and was considerably slower overall.

Happy to argue Strong N Powerful has more to come and hence he could be competitive against Singapore's best 3YOs.

Very interested to see which way Dragon heads now, off the back of his performance on Friday night, he should be very competitive.

Yet to be tested beyond 1400m, however when assessing his late closing splits, he should be even better over further.

Racing best when kept fresh (28 days between runs), he is a must for your blackbook as more wins certainly appear in store.
