Ballarat Race 1- Critique

Not one that's hard to find but this Written Tycoon colt looks pretty handy and can measure up in some better races at the back end of the carnival. He started $4.20 on debut in Sydney and set a good pace in front with the quinella coming from 7th & 9th in run. The winner there, Libertad, has since won a Group 3 so the form out of it is obviously strong and Critique did well to stick on there. He's gong to win plenty more races with his racing pattern and if Waterhouse & Bott keep him in Victoria there will be plenty of opportunities.

Hawkesbury Race 1- Icebreaker

I think this gelding can be winning his maiden next time out. He led them up at an above average Hawkesbury meeting and was claimed by the favourite at the 200m, who was in turn quickly claimed by the winner. Whilst no match for that winner, I loved how Icebreaker kicked back to put a clear margin on the favourite who was coming off a debut win himself. A Timeform rating of 95 on debut wins you most maidens at Hawkesbury and he's another with a favourable racing pattern. He should be going close next time out and with perhaps lesser known connections and an $8.50 starting price here, I suspect we'll get a good chance to back him wherever he goes.
