Midweek racing from Sandown Lakeside and we’ve got two horses to follow from the meeting.

Sandown Lakeside Race 7 – Running By

Take nothing away from the winner South Of Houston, who bounced back to lead all of the way here, but the return of Running By was very good and she should be winning in similar grade next time out. She ran second in the Listed Bendigo Guineas (1400m) before a spell and has hit the line strongly here, running the fastest last 600/400m of the meeting in second. The winner got an easy time of it in front and is a handy mare, but Running By has plenty more to come and can certainly go through the grades.

Sandown Lakeside Race 8 – Toronto Terrier

The win of the day for mine, and given a confident ride by Jye Mcneil who didn't panic when caught three wide no cover on what was an above average tempo and it proved the winning move, rather than dropping back and looking for all-important cover and hurting his chances. That said, the win was still very good by Toronto Terrier, who relished the rise to 1400m third up off two nice platforms. He's proven over a mile and off the strength of this win will have no issue rising in trip next start. I think he's a bit better than midweek grade and is probably up to open class on a Saturday with a bit more time.
