After losing in his 50th, 100th and 150th AFL matches, North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell has finally tasted victory in a milestone game.

North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell will look back more fondly on his 200th AFL match than his previous milestone games.

After losing in his 50th, 100th and 150th games, Ziebell ended that streak on Saturday as the Kangaroos defeated Gold Coast by 27 points.

"They were no good," Ziebell told AAP about the other milestone days.

"It took three to get it right.

"I haven't really had too much time to think about 200 games but to be able to win, and I've got a lot of family up here as well, a lot of friends, so to be able to enjoy that tonight will be pretty special."

The 28-year-old played a key role in the Metricon Stadium win, kicking two goals and picking up 28 disposals as well as 10 tackles.

He also had to pass a halftime concussion test after being collected by Jack Martin's hip just before the break and ended the game with a bandage across his forehead after splitting open an eyebrow.

"There was a bit on but that's just another day at the office," Ziebell said.

"It was a bit trying there at times but that's just footy - you have some good days, you have some bad days."

The Kangaroos have now won three consecutive AFL matches, coinciding with Brad Scott's departure as head coach and Rhyce Shaw's arrival as interim.

Ziebell paid tribute to both men for guiding the club through a tough moment.

"Shawy obviously had an impact and I can't fault the way he's handled the situation he's been involved in," Ziebell said.

"The way he's come in with all the boys it really has galvanised the group after what was a really tough situation with Brad.

"We all do miss him and he's going to be a part of this for the rest of the year, we've sort of set a bit of a goal to the bye and we've got one week to go now until we can reset and launch in the second half of the year."
