GWS have had a major boost for Sunday's AFL match against North Melbourne in Hobart, with star forward Toby Greene returning from injury.

Greene was a late withdrawal from their loss to Adelaide last week with a knee problem.

Jake Stein will make his AFL debut, five years after representing Australia in the decathlon at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, and Matt Buntine also returns.

It is a danger game for GWS, given North's run of good form and the Giants' poor form on the road.

All four GWS losses this season have been outside Sydney.

Isaac Cumming and Nick Haynes are injured and Daniel Lloyd was dropped.

Greene's return and the the absence of star North midfielder Shaun Higgins are massive.

Higgins needed surgery this week for a shoulder injury and Taylor Garner takes his place.
