A summary of Dayne Beams' AFL career.
* 2008 - After turning down a contract with the Gold Coast expansion side, Dayne Beams enters the AFL draft and is selected by Collingwood with Pick 29
* 2009 - Beams makes his AFL debut and goes on to play 18 games, finishing fourth in the Rising Star award and being named Collingwood's best first-year player
* 2010 - Beams wins an AFL premiership with Collingwood
* 2012 - Beams enjoys a career-best season, winning Collingwood's best and fairest and earning All-Australian selection
* October 2014 - Beams secures a trade to Brisbane to be closer to his father, Phillip, who had been diagnosed with bowel cancer, joining younger brother Claye at the Lions
* 2015 - Beams wins Brisbane's best and fairest in a four-way tie with Mitch Robinson, Stefan Martin and Dayne Zorko
* February 2017 - Beams is named Brisbane captain
* May 2018 - Beams steps down as Lions skipper in favour of Zorko, having struggled after his father died in March
* October 2018 - Beams returns to Collingwood, signing a four-year deal
* July 2019 - Beams steps away from Collingwood to focus on his mental health, but returns later that month to focus on injury rehabilitation
* December 2019 - Beams takes indefinite leave from the AFL to deal with mental health issues
