Captain Nat Fyfe will make his long-awaited AFL return for high-flying Fremantle in their clash with Hawthorn on Saturday.

Dual Brownlow Medallist Fyfe hasn't played since round 19 last year after a series of shoulder and back setbacks, missing the Dockers' rise in the first half of this season.

He returned via the WAFL for Peel Thunder last weekend, his first lower-level game in 12 years, and has been named to step up at Optus Stadium against the Hawks.

Michael Walters and Sam Switkowski return from a hamstring injury and suspension respectively.

Switkowski's return is especially welcome for Fremantle given fellow forward Michael Frederick is suspended for the clash after breaking the team's alcohol rules by drinking during a six-day break between games.

The Hawks have lost Mitch Lewis and Jack Gunston to injury while Jarman Impey is being managed but they regain Sam Frost and Jack Scrimshaw.

Brisbane spearhead Joe Daniher will play his first game since round seven, returning from a shoulder injury in Saturday's clash with St Kilda, while Mitch Robinson has been recalled.

The Saints regain Jack Higgins from concussion and have recalled Dan Butler, while Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera is out managed.

Carlton welcome back spearhead Harry McKay for Friday's big clash with Essendon, who have regained Jake Stringer and named Andrew McGrath, despite the midfielder suffering a groin injury.

McKay was initially set to miss around six weeks after undergoing knee surgery to repair the lateral meniscus he tore during the round-eight win over Adelaide but has recovered faster than expected.

With Jacob Weitering (shoulder) sidelined, defender Caleb Marchbank will feature against the Bombers in his first AFL match since round 16, 2019.

The Blues have also regained Matthew Kennedy and Jack Martin and called up Jordan Boyd.

Stringer and Matt Guelfi have recovered from hamstring injuries, while Mason Redman returns from suspension, but Devon Smith is out injured.

North Melbourne dasher Aaron Hall will play his first game since injuring his hamstring in round five while Jaidyn Stephenson has been recalled to an extended squad to face GWS on Sunday.

GWS will regain Lachie Whitfield and Adam Kennedy while Nick Haynes and Braydon Preuss are on the Giants' extended bench.

Veteran Callan Ward has cleared concussion protocols and will play his 200th game for the Giants.

For Monday's Queen's Birthday blockbuster, Melbourne have dropped Jayden Hunt.

Steven May (club suspension) is unavailable but fellow defender Michael Hibberd and potential debutant Daniel Turner are among the extended squad.

Collingwood have named Jamie Elliott on their extended bench.
