Racing and Sports will provide analysis of games in the 2024 AFL Season.
We'll endeavour to run through the form, incorporate appropriate stats and also supply a betting prediction which won't always just be who will win.
BRISBANE v GOLD COAST
Sunday 5 May @ the Gabba
At this time of the year we possibly expected these sides to have records like they have but maybe more so in reverse.
Who would have thought Brisbane can't get out of their own way – especially at home.
But down in Canberra they were horrific after a good start. Right in the game at the Half, it was 9 goals to 2. Barely a whimper was given.
So many goals came straight up the guts from GWS. It didn't even need the Giants to be at their best. Brisbane and their coach appear lost.
Now they face a Q-Clash where the Gold Coast have some confidence flowing. Trouble for them is this isn't at home. Boy they'd be a bet if it was down at Carrara.
West Coast gave a good account but some old and quite a few newcomers got involved for the Suns.
If they can continue to feed those big boys Walter and King, that spells danger for sides into the future. They are a good side but not overly consistent.
Match | Brisbane | Gold Coast | Ground |
Last time they met | 7.13 [55] | 15.6 [96] | Carrara |
Last 10 matches | 9 wins | 1 win
Notes | Brisbane own the overall record 18/7
Last Q-Clash was the first time in 6 games that Brisbane didn't bring up 100+ points |
Clearly Gold Coast needs to heavily be in the defensive ballpark here. If they hold sides in contact they can win.
Winning away from home is their hurdle. They won't get a better chance than with Brisbane in some disarray but the Lions just have to win.
Cam Rayner lifts for these exposure games more so than others so he can kick multiple goals.
Match Selection: Brisbane by 12 points
Suggested Bets: Cam Rayner 2+ goals @ 2.50 @ bet365
