The Adelaide Strikers have fought off rival BBL clubs to re-sign the world's top-ranked Twenty20 bowler, Rashid Khan.

The star spinner was a target of several BBL franchises but has opted to stick with the Strikers.

Rashid has played with the Strikers since 2017 and will return for the BBL tournament starting in December.

"I'm so happy that I am able to play for the Strikers again," Rashid said in a statement on Thursday.

"The Strikers have been like a family to me ... and I am so thankful to the fans who have been supporting me and made me feel like Adelaide is my home."

The Afghani 22-year-old is the Strikers' third-highest wicket-taker, with 56 victims from 40 games, and his economy rate of 6.36 runs an over is the outfit's best of anyone to have bowled in more than 10 innings.

The Strikes host the Melbourne Renegades in the BBL opener on December 3.
