The Perth Scorchers will boast one of the most lethal opening partnerships of the BBL this summer after signing England white-ball star Jason Roy.

Roy, who boasts a strike rate of 147.5 and an average of 24.6 in 35 T20s for England, will link up with fellow countryman Liam Livingstone at the top of the order.

The duo will complement the likes of Mitch Marsh, Kurtis Patterson, Cameron Green, Cameron Bancroft, and Josh Inglis in a powerful batting line-up.

Roy starred for England at last year's ODI World Cup, and the 30-year-old is well known by Australian fans after blasting 180 off 151 balls in a ODI win over Australia at the MCG in 2018.

He has also previously played for the Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers in the BBL.

It remains to be seen whether international commitments will limit the amount of games Roy will be able to play for the Scorchers.

"The Scorchers squad looks very strong, I'm excited to be joining the club," Roy said.

"I've heard the environment of the club is awesome and that it's a place where everyone wants to help get the best out of each other.

"I can't wait to get amongst the boys and help contribute to as many wins as possible."

The Scorchers have also signed WA-contracted pair Joel Paris and Cameron Gannon for the BBL season, which is scheduled to get underway in early December.

Marsh faces a race against time to be fit for the season opener after suffering a serious ankle injury while playing in the IPL.

Pace duo Jhye Richardson (shoulder) and Jason Behrendorff (back) are also hoping to be fit for the BBL campaign.

Scorchers squad: Mitch Marsh (capt), Ashton Agar, Fawad Ahmad, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Cameron Gannon, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Inglis, Matt Kelly, Liam Livingstone, Joel Paris, Kurtis Patterson, Jhye Richardson, Jason Roy, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Sam Whiteman.
