Hobart's new recruit Tim David, who was smashing sixes for Singapore in March, top scored in the Hurricanes' Big Bash League win over the Sydney Sixers.
Eight months ago, Tim David was hitting sixes for Singapore in a Twenty20 international against Malaysia in Bangkok.
On Thursday, he helped spark the Hobart Hurricanes to a 16-run win over defending Big Bash League champions the Sydney Sixers.
David (58 from 33) combined with South African import Colin Ingram (55 from 42) to lift Hobart to a competitive 8-178 after the early loss of linchpin D'Arcy Short.
The near single-digit weather at Hobart's Blundstone Arena was a far cry from the humidity of Bangkok, where David played two games for his country of birth in March.
"It's been awesome, my time with Singapore," the 24-year-old said.
"Hopefully, there's still opportunities to keep playing with them. At the moment the environment for travel is difficult."
David has played 14 of the 15 Twenty20 internationals played by the southeast Asian nation, which is an associate member of the International Cricket Council.
He is their top run-scorer with 558 at an average of 48.50.
"The associate level of international cricket is great. It's definitely competitive," David said.
"We've got Sandeep (Lamichhane) coming down in a few weeks (to join the Hurricanes). I played against him a few times for Nepal on turning wickets."
David played several matches for the Perth Scorchers in last summer's BBL but failed to make the most of his chances.
He looked at ease in his first outing with Hobart, whacking eight fours and one six in the crucial innings.
"It's always nervous starting at a new team and walking out to bat. But I was really pleased I could contribute," David said.
"(Hobart coach Anthony) Griffin rang me sometime during lockdown and had an opportunity for me to come and play.
"I think I had the opportunity (at Perth) but it takes a few chances to get it right.
"I was fortunate it came off. Hopefully it keeps coming off."
