AUSTRALIA v ENGLAND, FIRST TEST, DAY TWO:

Score: England 147; Australia 7-343

Summary: David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne took Australia past England just one wicket down, before the tourists fought back through Ollie Robinson. However, a brilliant quick-fire Travis Head cameo ensured the hosts again seized control.

Man of the moment: Head's century in the final session came from nowhere and was much-needed just when Australia looked to be squandering their strong start.

Key moment: England had fought back from the brink thanks to a two-wicket over from Robinson, but Head stole back momentum with three boundaries from a Ben Stokes over before the hobbled allrounder was pulled from the attack.

Stat of the day: David Warner (94) came within one run of equalling his entire 2019 Ashes series aggregate in his first innings of this campaign.

Quote of the day: "This is grievous bodily harm against Jack isn't it, from the very outset," Kerry O'Keeffe said on Fox Cricket of Australia's assault on offspinner Jack Leach (1-95 from 11 overs).
