Collingwood Magpies' hopes of a Super Netball finals campaign have suffered a big blow with with midcourt star Kelsey Browne ruled out for the rest of their season.

Scans have confirmed vice-captain Browne suffered a ruptured ACL during Saturday's win over the NSW Swifts.

She will be a major loss as she was having an outstanding season and was also involved in Australia's World Cup silver medal campaign in England.

With one game remaining in the regular season, the Magpies sit fifth, one point behind the Sydney-based Giants and needing to break into the top four to contest the finals.

They face their cross-town rivals, the third-placed Melbourne Vixens, in the final match on Sunday, and the Giants are at home to the sixth-placed West Coast fever on Saturday.

"We're all very disappointed for Kelsey, who has had a stand-out season this year," said Collingwood women's sport manager Jane Woodlands-Thompson.

"To remain at the game afterwards, supporting her teammates on the sideline, reflects the strong leader and selfless teammate that Kelsey is."
