Aussie boxer Lewis a great prospect: Arum

Australian boxer Daniel Lewis has a chance to showcase his talent to a massive global audience after having already won over legendary promoter Bob Arum.

Endorsed as a great prospect by legendary promoter Bob Arum, Sydney boxer Daniel Lewis gets the chance to make a global impression on Sunday.

The 26-year-old junior middleweight with a 6-0 record, will fight the much taller American Sebastian Fundora (13-0-1 ) in the opening bout on the worldwide telecast of the Las Vegas promotion headlined by the heavyweight world title rematch between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury

Arum's Top Rank company have recognised Lewis' potential by re-signing him to a new three-year contract.

"We think he's a real real great prospect,' Arum told Main Event, which will show Sunday's fight in Australia

Potentially millions of people worldwide are set to see Lewis showcase his skills against Fundora, who will enjoy a 19cm height advantage in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds

"To go out here on this fight night and show my skill to millions of people is awesome and to get the victory will be amazing," Lewis told AAP.

"I feel strong and I feel like I can beat this guy. It's another opportunity for me to show Top Rank what I've got to offer."

He will have two of Australia's shrewdest boxing minds in his corner,

His trainer is Graham Shaw, who mentored former middleweight world champion Daniel Geale and his cutman is Johnny Lewis, who has trained multiple world champions.

He isn't fazed by all the hype that accompanies a.massive boxing promotion.

"In my amateur career I went to the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games and the world championships, so I've been around a fair bit of big atmospheres before, so I'm pretty used to it, but it is pretty crazy to be in Las Vegas.

"It's a whole different experience," Lewis said.

He has already met Fury a few times at the gym where both men have trained.

Lewis campaigns in the same division as fellow Sydneysider Tim Tszyu, who he both beat and lost to in the amateur ranks.

Arum, who brought Filipino superstar Manny Pacquaio over to fight Jeff Horn in Brisbane where the Australian deposed the then WBO welterweight world champion in 2017, is leaning towards the Queenslander in his April 22 fight with Tszyu.

"I think Jeff has too much experience for Tim Tszyu at this time," Arum said.
