A man remains in hospital recovering from being shot by police who have charged him with threatening officers.

A man shot by police in suburban Perth has been criminally charged as he continues to recover in hospital.

Police on Friday confirmed they had charged the 37-year-old with an unlawful act with intent to harm.

He allegedly threatened officers with a knife and a pole on Thursday at Yanchep and was shot.

Senior police described the situation as dangerous, confirming that three shots were fired by two officers.

The man remains under guard in hospital.
