Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne has shocked highly-rated New Zealander Junior Fa in their heavyweight boxing clash on the Kambosos-Haney undercard.
Veteran Lucas Browne has silenced his critics with a shock first-round knockout in his George Kambosos Jnr-Devin Haney undercard fight in Melbourne.
Browne floored highly-rated New Zealander Junior Fa with a huge right hand and, while his rival was allowed to continue, another big blow finished him off one minute and 58 seconds into the heavyweight fight.
Known as Big Daddy, Browne yelled "Better than ever!" to the swelling Marvel Stadium crowd after the bout.
The 43-year-old West Australian sank to a career low last April when he was beaten by former rugby league star Paul Gallen via TKO in the opening round.
Browne said he was determined not to be defined by that upset result and felt that Gallen repeatedly hit him illegally.
He said he wanted revenge against Gallen but had so far been denied a rematch.
Fa (19-2, 10KOs) was the heavy favourite, only losing two of his previous 20 bouts and he went the distance last year with former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker.
On the back of the Fa victory, Browne claimed the IBF International heavyweight belt while defending his WBA Oceania heavyweight title.
"I've got the power to knock anyone out in the world," Browne said, with his record now 31-3 (27KOs).
"The problem is that I don't throw it because I'm scared of hurting people, not in the ring, I'm talking about sparring, so I've got into the habit of not throwing my right hand.
"The entire purpose of today was to set something up and throw it and when I threw it I knocked him down.
"He shouldn't have been allowed to continue, he was wobbling everywhere, but as soon as he (the referee) said keep going I thought all right, another one is coming."
Browne said he believed he had at least another three fights in him before considering retirement.
He has been sparring with rising Australian heavyweight star Justis Huni and called him out, as well as Gallen.
"I reckon it would be a great fight with Huni," Browne said.
"He is a great talent, very fast, very young, very fit and he is really good.
"I would like to fight him but I don't care who it is, as long as the money is there.
"I would love to fight Paul Gallen again, remembering that I got $100,000 for that fight and he got $1.2 million.
"I have asked him many times and he has said no.
"He got away with popping me in the back of the head a couple of times. I don't fear anyone."
