Penrith have released hooker Wayde Egan from the final two years of his NRL contract to pursue an opportunity with the Warriors.

Egan's departure comes after the club lured Apisai Koroisau back to the foot of the mountains after his four-year stint with Manly.

"As a club we would have liked Wayde to see out his contract however we also understand the opportunity presented by the Warriors was a difficult one for Wayde to turn down at this point in his career," Panthers boss Matt Cameron said.
