Gold Coast captain Kevin Proctor has welcomed Justin Holbrook swinging the selection axe at the Titans, conceding players haven't been performing at the NRL club.

The Titans will field a much-changed line-up against Wests Tigers as they aim to snap a losing streak which will extend past 12 months with another defeat on Sunday.

Former State of Origin players Nathan Peats and Jarrod Wallace, along with Jai Whitbread and Jonus Pearson, have all been cut from the 17 which lost 36-6 to North Queensland last weekend.

Ex-Canberra forward Shannon Boyd has also been axed and Proctor said there can be little complaints about Holbrook's decisions given how the team has been playing.

"If you keep it the way that we're going then we're going to get the same results," Proctor said.

"That's footy. If you're not playing well you can't be expected to be picked every weekend.

"The coach has made some tough calls this weekend but, hey, that's his decision. It's his job on the line as well, you know? He's only doing what he thinks is best for the team."

The 30-point hiding by the Cowboys in Townsville means the Titans have conceded 106 points in three matches this season, 32 more than the next worst defensive record of St George Illawarra (74).

The paltry 18 points Holbrook's team have scored is also the lowest haul of any team in the competition.

With the Tigers coming to Queensland on the back of a win over Cronulla, Proctor says the Titans are already facing desperate times as they aim to end their 14-game losing run.

"The intent's there, we're just not executing what we're executing at training," he said.

"The potential's there but we just haven't been taking the right options or kind of kicking ourselves in the foot with silly options at last tackle kicks or defensive errors that are just not up to standard.

"Hopefully all those new guys that are coming in, just slot in really well."
