Titans prop Sam Lisone beats NRL charge

3 minute read

Sam Lisone has beaten a dangerous contact charge, clearing the prop to play in the Gold Coast's NRL clash with Canterbury.

Gold Coast enforcer Sam Lisone is free to play against Canterbury after beating a dangerous contact charge.

Lisone avoided a one-week suspension after appearing before the NRL judiciary on Tuesday night.

The prop pleaded not guilty to a charge of contacting the head and neck of St Illawarra hooker Billy Brittain during the Titans' 14-10 win.

Lisone, a Samoan international in his first season at the Gold Coast after arriving from the Warriors, was the ball-carrier when he made contact with Brittain.

He has been named on the Gold Coast bench as the Titans try to confirm their improvement under new coach Justin Holbrook when they take on the Bulldogs.

The 13th-placed Titans will travel to Sydney as favourites to keep Canterbury anchored at the bottom of the ladder on Saturday.
