Warriors forward Kane Evans has been fined $5000 for an obscene message written on his wrist tape during Sunday's NRL loss to Penrith.
The NRL has fined Warriors forward Kane Evans $5000 for writing an obscene message on wrist tape in last Sunday's loss to Penrith.
Cameras captured vision of Evans sitting on the sideline at Suncorp Stadium with the message "fold some c***" clearly written on his wrist strapping.
Evans was 18th man for the match but didn't play despite the Warriors losing four players to injury, with none of the injuries being a result of foul play.
Warriors coach Nathan Brown confirmed the fine on Wednesday and said the club wouldn't be imposing any further sanction on the 29-year-old.
"It was an expensive piece of writing," Brown said.
"If that is the worst thing Kane Evans does, well he has copped a kick up the backside and we will move on with it.
"Kane is a good lad who has only been with us short term. He is very popular amongst the boys and he is a terrific bloke.
"But good people do some silly things sometimes and on this occasion Kane has done something that as a club we feel is a little bit silly."
It's far from the first time an NRL player has been sanctioned for questionable messaging on strapping tape.
Evans' new Warriors teammate Matt Lodge was banned for two games in 2014 for an offensive message scrawled on his strapping in an under-20s Origin game.
In 2016, Andrew Fifita was fined $20,000 after he displayed a message of support for convicted one-punch killer Kieran Loveridge.
