SNAPSHOT OF THE FIRST NRL ELIMINATION FINAL:

* Result: Sydney Roosters 25 bt Gold Coast 24 at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

* Key moment: After Sam Walker nailed a field goal to put the Roosters ahead 25-24, young forward Beau Fermor made a 40-metre break with 20 seconds to play to raise the blood pressure of both sides. With space on the right edge the ball found Patrick Herbert, who failed to link up with David Fifita and then flicked the ball into touch.

* Key stat: James Tedesco was again immense for the Roosters, scoring a try and setting up all three others to extend their season into another week.

* Injuries/suspensions: Sydney Roosters hooker Sam Verrills was put on report in the 37th minute for a high shot on Brian Kelly, who left the field with a bloodied nose. The 22-year-old has no prior charges this season but it could cost him next week's semi-final against Manly.

* What's next? Sydney Roosters will face Manly in Friday night's semi-final clash in Mackay, with the winner advancing through to the preliminary finals.

* They said it: "If we'd passed the ball at the end I'm sitting here saying it's the best win we've ever had as a club, but it wasn't to be. We've got to suck it up. It's going to hurt for a long time and (we) come back next year," said a shattered Titans coach Justin Holbrook.
