3 minute read

Australia's men's and women's rugby sevens teams have learned their opponents for the Hamilton Sevens.

Australia's men's rugby sevens team will face Argentina, Fiji and Samoa at the Hamilton Sevens in New Zealand.

Australia, who are currently eighth in the standings heading into the third round of the Sevens World Series, have been drawn in Pool D of the tournament.

Tim Walsh's men slumped to their worst finish in a World Series event since 2013 in the second round, losing the 11th place playoff to Canada 22-5 in Cape Town.

Australia will look to bounce back when they kick off their first game of the Hamilton tournament against Argentina on January 25th (11:25 AEDT).

Australia's women's team will face USA, Russia and newly promoted Brazil in Pool B.

The women's team are currently second in the standings behind New Zealand heading into the fourth round of the series, having lost 17-7 to the Black Ferns in the final in Cape Town in the third round.

Olympic champions Australia will take on Brazil in their first match on January 25th (08:36 AEDT) at FMG Stadium Waikato, with the women's and men's tournaments taking place in a combined event for the first time in Hamilton.
