Sydney FC recruit Luciano Narsingh is closing in on making his A-League Men debut in Saturday's derby against Western Sydney.

The Dutch international has been training with the Sky Blues for a fortnight after signing for the remainder of the season earlier this month.

Capped 19 times by the Netherlands, the 31-year-old has impressed Corica since his arrival and is in the mix to feature at Commbank Stadium against the Wanderers.

"He's been over for almost two weeks now and he's done all the sessions," Corica said.

"He's looking fit. He's got some good touches.

"He needs to play games to get fitter as well because he hasn't played many of them of late.

"We want to try and get him in as soon as possible and we still have a lot of games coming up for him to do that. He's looking really good."

The derby atmosphere will be nothing unusual for Narsingh, who featured regularly in clashes between PSV Eindhoven and Ajax in his homeland - a rivalry known as De Topper.

One of the highlights of Narsingh's time at PSV, which included two Eredivisie titles, included a goal in a 3-1 win over then-champions Ajax in 2014.

Narsingh also featured in a 4-2 win over Ajax in 2012, in the traditional season curtain-raiser between the Dutch champions and cup winners for the Johan Cruyff Shield.

Sydney head into the Saturday's game on a four-match run without a win and have slumped to sixth on the ladder.

"We need to win, of course, because we've had a couple of losses on the trot which is not great," Corica said.

"Derbies are always very fiery. Both teams are up for the derby and I'm sure this is going to be no different especially at their ground."
