Alex de Minaur has rallied in the Georgia heat to surge into the Atlanta Open semi-finals with a victory over France's Adrian Mannarino.

The Australian third seed triumphed 4-6 6-3 6-0 in their quarter-final played in the baking afternoon sun on Friday.

Seeking his first title of the year, De Minaur, the 2019 champion, is set to meet world No.53 Ilya Ivashka in the semis after the Belarussian accounted for American Tommy Paul 6-2 3-6 6-1.

"It's not called Hotlanta for nothing, that's for sure," world No.30 De Minaur said.

"It's definitely a hot one today. I had to absolutely battle, but jeez it feels good to get on top in these types of matches.

"Very proud of myself, very proud of my attitude. I didn't give in and managed to fight until the end. I'm happy to live another day."

The other semi-final pits fourth seed Francis Tiafoe against fellow American Jenson Brooksby, the sixth seed.

Tiafoe comfortably beat Brandon Nakashima 6-4 6-2 while Brooksby eliminated reigning and six-time Atlanta champion John Isner 3-6 6-1 6-4.
