2014 Derby Day - Vet Check For Waterhouse Star

Myer Classic topweight Sweet Idea will be subjected to a vet examination at Flemington on Saturday after stewards received a report about a fitness issue from the Gai Waterhouse stable.

Waterhouse advised Racing Victoria stewards today that the stable had been managing a bruise to a bulb on Sweet Idea’s heel during the week.

However the stewards were told Sweet Idea had missed no work since her last start win in the Tristarc Stakes and galloped as required on Tuesday.

She followed up that gallop by trotting up well today.

However the stewards have ordered that Sweet Idea be vetted when she arrives on course on Saturday before she is allowed to start in the 500,000 G1 event.

Waterhouse also notified the stewards of a late gear change to her new import Pornichet, who makes his Australia debut in the G3 Yellowglen Stakes.

Pornichet, who has raced in France and America, wore blinkers at his last US start but Waterhouse has advised they will be removed for his local debut.

In the Myer Classic trainer Pat Hyland has advised stewards that Bonaria has a plating change with concussion plates replacing the shock shod shoes she wore at her previous start.
