Fawkner is an early scratching from Saturday’s Group 1 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield.

The Caulfield Cup winner and Cox Plate runner-up was withdrawn after drawing gate 18 in the field of 20 including emergencies.

Trainer Robert Hickmott will instead give Fawkner an exhibition gallop between races at Caulfield on Saturday.

The scratching will allow the first emergency, Darren Weir’s Stratum Star, to gain a run.
