Rawiller Suspended in 2014 Cox Plate

Champion rider Nash Rawiller was suspended on a careless riding charge for 14 meetings at Moonee Valley this afternoon.

Now based in Hong Kong, Rawiller was riding New Zealand mare Silent Achiever in the $3million G1 Cox Plate where he was deemed to have caused interference to Criterion passing the winning post for the first time.

Rawiller who returns to Hong Kong tonight to fulfil his riding engagements at Sha Tin tomorrow afternoon will begin his suspension on November 9 and will be free to ride again on 22nd November, just in time for the lead up races to the Hong Kong International Raceday in December.

Meanwhile Michelle Payne also earned the wrath of the stewards in two separate incidents, the Moonee Valley Cup and Crystal Mile.

Payne was suspended for 20 meetings on the first count and 10 meetings on the second.

Payne has indicated she will appeal the severity of the interference in the Moonee Valley Cup but the way it stands, she will not be eligible to ride in races again until November 14.
