SIngle Gaze Lame After Melbourne Cup

Gallant Canberra mare Single Gaze appears to be the only minor casualty from Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.

Stewards reported that Single Gaze pulled up lame in her near foreleg after finishing 17th in the Melbourne Cup.

The race was drama free with no horses suffering incidents or serious injuries that have marred recent runnings of the Melbourne Cup.

The mare will be returning to the Canberra stables of her trainer Nick Olive and is expected to be spelled before returning to racing in the autumn.

Stewards ordered that require a veterinary clearance before she resumes racing.

Stewards ordered vet inspections of a number of beaten horses after the Melbourne Cup including the disappointing favourites Marmelo, Humidor and Almandin.

All three were found to have pulled up with no abnormalties.
