Trainer Patrick Payne has reported that Zanbagh has pulled up lame from her Geelong Cup run yesterday and will not head towards the 2014 Melbourne Cup.
The four-year-old mare, who was beaten 16.5L behind Caravan Rolls On trotted up lame after returning home from Geelong with a bruised heel.
The future of Zanbagh is now in doubt after the setback after she has failed to return to her best form in four runs this campaign.
The Group 1 Australian Oaks second placegetter showed signs of returning to form when third in the Benalla Cup two starts back behind Commanding Time and was sent out at $6 by punters for the Group 3 Geelong Cup (2400m)
