Three-time Emirates Melbourne Cup second Red Cadeaux has safely arrived along with the first batch of European contenders in Melbourne as he prepares for another attempt at 'the race that stops a nation'.
Extremely popular in Australia due to his exploits down under, Red Cadeaux is reported to have travelled well and quickly settled into the Werribee quarantine centre with a roll in the sand pit at the complex.
Red Cadeaux, who has a barn named after him at Werribee, first finished second in the 2011 Melbourne Cup before filling the same position in the past two seasons.
The nine-year-old Red Cadeaux flew down to Australia alongside fellow Melbourne Cup contenders Trip To Paris, Snow Sky and Max Dynamite, while Criterion was returning home after a summer spent racing in Europe.
Max Dynamite is the 14-1 second favourite for the Melbourne Cup with Snow Sky a 16-1 chance and Red Cadeaux 33-1 to make it fourth-time lucky at Flemington.
